Okay everyone up and atom, I am going to cook breakfast and drop mommy off at work and then my daughter. Its oh dark thirsty in the morning and not only do I have to cook breakfast but I have to drop my wife and daughter off, in their respective institutions of work and school.
That is not all, I have a three year young son to take care of as well. I signed up for this position and I plan on accomplishing my mission, which is to lead and manage my family to success and the best quality of life I can give them.
We can mutually agree, it has been quite a few years since attending kindergarten. Actually it has been a long time since I attended kindergarten and I am not about to tell you how ago it was for me.
My wife and I enrolled our daughter in kindergarten last year and looked forward to her attending, learning and making new friends. On the first day of school after learning which teacher my daughter was assigned to, when it was time to leave her at school and depart, our daughter stood up to leave with us, thus began the journey of being a father of a 21st Century kindergarten student.
The fact of the matter is, I had a lot to learn about the school system, leadership at my daughters school, Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and of course the teachers. Little did I know, i would become a member of the PTA with a leadership role, but there I was in my element, contributing.
Sadly I was only one of a very few parents volunteering my time and efforts to help improve my daughters school. There are 400 students that attend my daughters elementary school ad less than 10 parents willing to join and or serve on the PTA.
Being a member of the PTA helped me learn the nuisances of the workings of my daughters school and it benefited us immeasurably. I drop my daughter off at school and pick here up everyday. I visit with my daughters teacher, speak with the principal of the school, meet with her entire class for her birthday party and participate in some of their field trips.
One of the most astounding phenomenons to learn was, all of the students in my daughters class do not call me Mr. Vann, rather they call me my daughters dad. When I attended school we addressed adults as sir and or ma'am, today students address parents by the name of their children.
I have more years ahead of me as it pertains to being called my childrens dad. My kindergarten experience as a father has been nothing short of an incredible experience, my daughter is learning a lot and having fun. My wife and I is proud of our daughter and I look forward to many more years on this journey.
